Spring Break Has Sprung

Winter is on it’s way out the door and Spring is about to usher in!  Ohio springtime means budding flowers, bare trees turning to green and some epic spring break road trips.  After a long winter one of the things I love about Ohio is getting back outside – we are ready to hit the road, kick up the tunes and roll down the windows.

Before you head out the door there are a few things that you might consider before your trip. Many of you are great at remembering, but here are a few things that will prevent bigger service issues as well as ensure your safety on the road.

Fluids- Not only do you need to stay hydrated for good health your car needs fluids too. Oil, radiator fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield fluid. Always make sure to check and top off as needed.

Tires- Keeping tires properly inflated is important for safety and, as an added bonus, gives you better fuel efficiency.  Underinflated tires can cause premature wear and tire blowout.

General Maintenance- Find a reliable mechanic that you trust and give those brake pads, air filters, headlights, turn signal lights, belts and hoses all a look over. I love my neighborhood mechanic or dealer who usually can tell me what services I will need based on their expertise along with manufacturer recommendations.

Car Wash- Spring is the time to remove the winter buildup on the exterior and underneath of your car, often including months of dirt, snow, grime and road salt.   Allowing this buildup can diminish the finish on your vehicle and affect resale values.

Wiper Blades- Your wiper blades worked hard over the brutal winter season.  It is important to replace them now so you can be prepared for the showers that springtime brings.

KID friendly- It’s a good time to make sure the little ones are in the right car seat. Most hospitals or fire stations can check to make sure that your car seat is installed correctly.  Your little ones grow so quickly they may be able to use a different or better suited car seat. And don’t forget snacks for all ages- we are all kids at heart.

INSURANCE ID cards- Before you take your trip make sure that you have your current ID cards. If you haven’t already picked up your ID case stop by the office or call me to have one sent to you. It has our name and phone on it and you can put your ID cards in the ID case – very handy to have when you are on the go!

We hope you have safe travels and enjoy making many new, happy memories.  A road trip isn’t complete without singing along to the car radio like no one is listening!
